Edwards concluded his walk against time on Saturday night. He walked nearly 177 miles in forty-eight hours, being only three miles less than intended. Edwards attributed his failure to walking too soon after his match against time in Dunedin. After a short rest he will commence training for the match with young Scott, of Dunedin. Two thousand shares in the West Coast railway have been already taken up here. The company will not be regis tered till 10,000 shares have been applied for.
A Scandinavian named Nongrew was drowned while attempting to cross the Waimakari river on Saturday. Simoneen's Opera Company gave a sacred concert last night to a large audience.
