Hislop, a clerk in the Union Sash and Door Company's employ, has levanted by the Julia Price for New Caledonia, taking with him. at least £60 of the company's cash. He came from Christchurch three or four years ago, and leaves a wife and family here uprovided for.
A conference took place this morning between the Education Board and the City School Committee re the dispute over the training college. The board is likely to make concessions.
Purcell, an insolvent debtor, who was perdu for sometime past, wasarrested last night by Detective Jeffry, after an exciting chase through the town. Fiftyone pounds in cash were got on him.
