A CRICKET CHALLENGE.
[To the Editor of the Daiit Teleghuph.l S IB) —As the Hawke's Bay Cricketers do not seem inclined to accept ray offer of the loan of the £15 which they require to put the ground in order, I think I can show them a plan by which they can get the £15 free without interest. It will also save them from making a house to house canvass, and thus leave the few spare shillings any of your tradesmen may have just now to be given to any of the canvassers for your several local charities. The plan I propose for them to get this £15 is this: When they have got their twenty-two men well practised and in good trim, I will then find twenty men, residents of Hawke's Bay, who do not belong to any Club or Association, who will play the twenty-two men who are chosen to meet the Australian team for the sum of £15, or if they want any more for expenses I will say any sum from £15 to £30. Hoping they will see fit to accept tbis gift.—l am, &c, Cornelius O'Neij*k. Taradale, January 17,1881.
