30 excursionists. 15 —Fairy, s.s., from Blackhead. 15—Albion, s.s., from Southern ports,
The'S.s. Mtiori, Captain Anderson, returned from Wairoa yesterday afternoon, brinsrine 25 bales wool, a quantity of fruit, and five!passengers. The s.s. Eeeult, Captain W. E. Baxter, returned from Wairoa at 11 o'clock last night, with about 30 excursionists and fire race horses. The sfceamor Fairy, Captain Campbell, returned from Blackhead early this morning, bringing 101 bales of dumped wool, which she transhipped to the barque Glenlora during the morning. The Union Company's s.s. Albion, oapt. Oarrard, arrived here at 1.15 p.m. to-day, end was tendered shortly after arrival by the Boojum, but she did not return in time to allow of us furnishing our readers with a report of the vessel's passage or passenger list. The Union Company's s.s. Rotomahana, Captain Thomas Underwood, is due here at an early hour to-morrow morning, and is advertised to sail again at 10 o'clock for Southern ports, Hobart Town, and Melbourne.
The life-boat's crew -were out in the Bay practising this afternoon when our report left the Spit. It is intended to capsize the boat as they are coming home to try her self-righting powers, and also to accustom the crew to the peculiar movements.
