Three per cent consols, 98-j. New Zealand five per cents, have suffered a decline, and are to-day quoted as follows: —10-40 loan, 103; 1889 loan, 107*. Adelaide wheat, ex-warehouse, is quoted at 49s 9d per 4961b?, and New Zealand wheat, ex-ship, remains at 449. Australian tallow is uuchanged. January 11. The reinforcements of cavalry and infantry ordered for service ageinst the Boers have sailed for Natal. New Zealand securities are to-day quoted as follows, the prices showing a | further decline:—Five per cent. 10-40 loan, 103 ; five per cent. 1889 loan, 107 ; four and a half per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 97±. January 12. The trial of the Land Leaguers at Dublin is still proceeding. The case for the prosecution has closed, and the addresses of counsel for the defence are now being heard. The debate on the Address in Reply was resumed in the House of Commons to-day, and lasted during the greater part of the sitting. Lord Hartington made an exhaustive speech, in the course of which he severely attacked the Irish Land League and its mode of action. Alluding to the Land Bill which had been introduced by the Government, he expressed an opinion that its provisions were founded on lines of justice to both tenant and landlord. The debate stands further adjourned.
