The Supreme Court to-day refused to allow costs to the lessees of Albert Park who took out an injunction against the Corporation to restrain Cole's circus from performing on the Albert reserve. At the fortieth half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Insurance Company today the directors report for the half-year ended November 30, 1880, shewed that, after making provision for all ascertained losses to date, and carrying £10,000 to the reserve fund, which, with the re-in-surance fund, now stands at £150,000, there remains the sum of £21,797 2s 3d for division, which the directors propose to be appropriated as follows:—A dividend at the rate of fifteen per cent per annum, £15,000; balance carried forward, £6797.
There is no sign of the mail steamer. Mr O. O. Montrose has concluded negotiations for the purchase of the Waikato Mail, published at Cambridge.
