THE REGATTA.

[To the Editor of the Daily Tekegiuph.l Sin, —A Regatta Committee composed of delegates from the two principal rowing clubs, and of representatives of the regatta fund, decided at a full meeting, and without a dissentient voice, to have the regatta on the Ngaruroro river. I am sorry to learn that, at a general meeting of the Union Club, a resident on the Spit succeeded in getting a resolution passed to the effect that the regatta be held at the Western Spit. The delegates of the Club, thereupon, very properly resigned their seats on the Regatta Committee, but were eventually indiaced to retain their position, and consented to carry out the wishes of their club as expressed in the above resolution. Instead therefore of the committee working together in harmony to secure a good rowing meeting, these three representatives of the Union will take their seats as obstructionists sitting in a hopeless minority. However much the Union Club may be governed by one or two Spit residents, lam certain of this, that the rowing men of Napier are thoroughly satisfied with what the Regatta Committee have done, and will encourage no action that bears selfishness on the face of it.—l am, &c,

Ngahuroro. Napier, January 12, 1881.
