WELLINGTON.

January 8

A man named J. W. Jordan, formerly a clerk in the Legislative Council, was found dead outside the Railway Hotel, Lower Hutt, at 5 o'clock this morning. Jordan was last seen alive last night at the hotel, when he was under the influence of liquor. The landlord had him put to bed, and locked the door. It is supposed that Jordan attempted to get out of the window, when he fell, and was killed, his neck being broken. The de ceaeed recently received £700, and he haa been drinking heavily of late.
