THE COUNCIL.

[To the Editor of the Daily; Telegeaph.] Sib, —Two things strike me in reference to the appointment of a Municipal Engineer. First, that; the Major and Cr. de Lisle, two Jersey men, are dead against Mr Marchant, a fellow islander. Secondly, that Mac Kay, Mac Vay, and Mac Dougall are working together. There is a lot of Scotch about this, but I hope their machinations " won't bang saxpence" before we have got a bawbee of work out of ouir engineer.—l am, &c, McQuffin.
