FARM WORKERS FROM THE FORCES
New Method Of Release Outlined
Local manpower officers could obtain the release of farm workers from the armed forces and direct them to particular farms on application by the farmers concerned, said Mr Mr. H. E. Blyde (Taranaki) at a meeting yesterday of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Immediate application for particular men required should be made, otherwise they might be directed to other farms or, perhaps to dairy factories, he said. Farmers were somewhat at a loss as to the procedure to be adopted over the return of servicemen to the particular farms on which they were previously employed. The Armed Forces Appeal Boards no longer existed and it was not generally known, that releases were now dealt with by local manpower offices. Arrangements had been made to avoid undue delay in obtaining those releases and they should be completed in a few days from the date of application.
