YEARLY VISIT FROM LOWER HUTT GROUP

Hccently the AVellington French Chib received its annual visit from members of the Lower Hutt circle, who made themselves responsible for providing the evening's entertainment. Aliss Al. Campbell sang two songs, “Berceuse” and “Le Petit Oiseau Triste,” both composed by Avenskv, and these items were followed by a talk, “L’Ane Dans L’Apologtte,” by Aladame ,T. de Filippi. Aliss Dorothy Downing, pianist, played the “Nocturne in C Minor” of Chopin, and the evening concluded with the presentation of a comedy, “La Farce du Cuvier,” which was preceded by an introduction by Airs. Salmon. Those taking part in the play were Misses C’oi'tilie Smythson mid Dorothy Patterson, and Air. Pat Alacaskill. Hostess for the evening was Aladame Bcndall, and the conversation class was conducted by Madame Logre. Club Party Postponed -i The party whicli was to have been held at the Pioneer Club tomorrow has been postponed, due to the death of the president's mother, Airs. Kane. Debutantes Presented. A number of Y.W.C.A.-dehutanles were presented to Airs. Arthur Grenfell, vicepresident. of the Y.W.G.A. of Great. Britain. at a reception in the Auckland Town Hall. All the girls wore white frocks with sprigs of«daphne in their hair and al) carried Victorian posies of violets and daphne with lavendar streamers. After presentation they came down from the stage in pairs and formed a parade with their partners.
