SPECTACULAR FIRE IN CHRISTCHURCH

A spectacular lire swept through the second and third floors of a large store on the premises of Central Egg Floor Limited, Tuam-Street, shortly before nine o'clock this evening. For more than an hour I hr- Christchurch Fire Brigade fought, tiie flames, which sent columns of .-moke, clouds and sparks high over the adjoining buildings. The lire was conlined to (he lop floors, which contained '■rates and packing material nnd did not reach the ground floor, whore there were I'm dozen eggs, about £5O worth of bacon and cheese ami two egg-grading machines.
