OBITUARY
Mr. Foster Brook A well-known and highly-rospeeti.-d citizen of Hastings, Hawke's Bay, Mr. Foster Brook, died last week. He was a native of Dewsbury, Yorkshire, nm| came to New Zealand front Australia in 1902. 17 years after leaving England. He first enlori’d business iu Woodville, thru he transferred to Hastings in 190-8. and opened a booksellers’ business which be continued to his death. Mr. Brook took a keen part in promoting the welfare, of Hastings and was prominently associated witli a number of organization's, He was a member of the Hawke's Bay Licensing Committee, tlie Hastings Bowling Club, the Hastings Retailers' Association, and the Hastings Chamber of Commerce. He was a vicepresident of the Booksellers' Association, and a life-member of the Heretnunga Club. For many yc.-irs he was a vestryman of SI. Matthew's Church. Hastings. lie leaves a widow, a daughter, Mrs. I-’. Franklin, Tikokin.i, and n son, Mr. Cyril Brook, Hastings.
