Savings bank deposits in Australia on Mar 7 last exceeded £415,000.000. compared with £242.000.000 in Muy. 1939— an increase of £213,000.000 in live years.. Most of Hie increase occurred after March 31, 1012. 1 The rale of deposit, however, now appears lo be declining probaldy because there has been a reduction in highly-rcmunerative employment in Government munitions factories.
