Kennard, who appeared for him. said that the error had been made by (h'frndant’s daughter and would not have occurred if he himself had been there. A price list was exhibited in the shop. William Tunis I’niuhart. butrher. Johnsonville. was lined £2 for selling HHoz. of lamb chops al 1/4. when the correct price was .1/2?. Defendant, who pleaded iruilfy, was represented by Mr. Tarrant. Both prosecutions were conducted by Mr. W. R. Birks.

Charged with making a bet with a bonkmaker. Martin Carr, watorslder. appeared before Mr. Colliding, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court. Wellington, yesterday. Evidence was given that accused bad been raught in the process of making a bet in a hotel. Mr. I'. W. Onglvy. who .appeared for Carr, said that there was no evidence tn show that the person whom accused was betting with was a bookmaker. The magistrate reserved his decision. SeniorSergeant G. «T. Paine prosecuted.
