AMERICANS LOSE AN AIRFIELD

CHUNGKING. June 29. The United States Army Air Force has abandoned its airfield at Hengyang, says General Stilwell’s communique. The Americans dropped 10001 b. bombs on the field to render it useless to the enemy. Hengyang is in flames. The communique adds that the American Air Force, supporting the Chinese ground forces, attacked Chuchow. Siangsiang, and a nearby Japanese artillery concentration, and also destroyed military installations and enemy strongholds at An.ien, Yuhsien and Pingsiang. . _ Large fires were started at Kweiyi, near Lake Tungting. nnd also at Hokiakiao, north-cast of Hengyang.
