APPEAL FROM MANPOWER ORDER
The hearing of the appeal by -John Hoirun against the order of the Manpower Office that he start work at the M ellingtoii Woolleu Company's mills on June -b was adjourned by the Appeal Committee i.t Lower Hutt yesterday to YVellington on U j?r c’ F. Shapcott, manpower officer nt Lower Hutt, said that the question would nrlse as to whether Hogan should report for duty in the meantime. The question was immaterial it the hearing followed quickly after the date of the order, but it a lengthy adjournment were made the question might have to be considered. Mr. Shapcott said he accepted Mr Rothwell’s assurance that the adjournnicc*' was not with a view to delaying comnlianco with the order, and so long as an assurance was given that the question would be settled nt the adjourned hearing ‘the position would bo satisfactory. The manager of the woollen mills had formally advised that Hogan had uot reported for duty on June 26, as ordered.
