PROGRESS IN BURMA

KANDY, June 28. A South-east Asia communique reports that Chinese troops have taken Anmti, six miles north-east of Mogaung. on the Mogaung-Myitkyina railway, and seized 50 railway wagons. Pending a full announcement by the War Office, it is revealed that the 14th Army lost 6000 men killed or missing and had 12.000 wounded between January 1 and May 31. The figure does not include General Stilwell’s forces, but includes the Cbindits. In the same period the Japanese lost. 21.7(10 killed and an estimated 20.000 wounded.
