Bombing Of San Marino (Received June 29. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON. June 28. The Government of San Marino, a tiny Apennine republic, has emphatically protested to Washington against an American air bombardment on Monday when the cathedral and a library were destroyed. A Note, says the correspondent of "The Times” on the Italian frontier, emphasized that San Marino has been an independent republic since 1643, and its neutrality has so far been fully recognized by all Governments. It added that San Marino was entirely devoid of military installations. Surrounded by ttaliau territory. San Marino lies 12 miles south-west of Rimini, on the Adriatic, between the provinces of Font and Pesaro e Nrbino. , The frouiier is 24 miles long, and encloses'at) area of •‘IS square miles.
