POST-WAR TRADE
N.Z. And United Kingdom The council of the United Kingdom Manufacturers’ and New Zealand Representatives’ Association met in Wellington yesterday to consider the post-war trade position particularly in regard to reciprocal trade between the United Kingdom and New Zealand. It was reported that advice was being, received from manufacturers in the United Kingdom indicating their desire to receive orders from New- Zealand and their ability to supply lines which up till now, due to war requirements, were not available for export. . , . „ The difficulty being met with by Aew Zealand representatives, it was stated, was uncertainty in regard to the future policy of the New Zealand Government. It was decided to set un a special committee to study the whole question of post-war trade and to bring down recommendations to the next meeting of , the council. Emphasis was laid on various letters recently received from the Lhited Kingdom, all of which stressed the desire for resumption of normal export trade as soon as possible to obtain much needed funds. . ■
