Tile Government bns approved of Silverstream hospital being handed over free of rent to the Wellington Hospital Board for a period of three years on tiie following conditions: That th” board makes adequate use of the buildings to the satisfaction of tiie Minister of Health; that the board meets out of its ordinary funds the cost, of any renovations or alterations, installation of fittings and equipment to render the hospital suitable for the board's use during the three years; that the Government will be responsible for removing from the site any buildings not required for the board’s purposes: that at the end Pf the period of three years the board will have the right to remove fittings and equipment installed bv it, provided the structure of the buildings is not thereby affected ; that the question of the board’s occupying for any further period beyond the three years, and the terms of such occupancy be determined before the expiration of the three’ years. A letter to this effect was received by the board at its meeting last night. The chairman, Mr. H. F. Toogood. said it was ho]>ed that plans of alterations and estimates of the cost would be in the hands of the building committee next week.
