ALLIED AND GERMAN CASUALTIES
Totals In Normandy LONDON, June 28. The Allied casualties in* Normandy from D-day on June 6 to June 20 have been officially announced as follows: — British: 1842 killed, over 8000 wounded, over 3000 missing. Canadians: 363 killed, over 1000 wounded, /over 1000 missing. Americans: 3082 killed, 13,000 wounded, nearly 8000 missing. The total Casualties are just over 40,000. i The latest estimate of prisoners taken in the advance on the Cherbourg Peninsula is 15,000, states a correspondent at the supreme headquarters. A conservative assessment of the.total German casualties in Normandy is 48,000 killed and wounded and 32,000 prisoners. It is disclosed that the Seventh United States Corps, comprising the Fourth, Ninth and 79th Divisions, took Cherbourg.
