NAVAL CRAFT CLASH OFF JERSEY

LONDON. June 27. Allied coastal forces in the Channel surprised three German armed trawlers and two minesweepers about 10 miles off the island of Jersey early this morning. Our gunners inflicted considerable damage on the enemy before star-shells and heavy fire from shore batteries forced a temporary disengagement. Later, our forces torpedoed a minesweeper, which is believed to have been sunk. We had only superficial damage and two casualties.
