Improved Financial Position A report 'by the finance committee of the Wellington Rugby Union tabled ,at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the union last night, show ol * that receipts for the year to June 27 last totalled £2541/7/8. The main source of revenue was the gates for the seven elun matches at Athletic Park, which totalled £1223/6/-. the biggest attendance haying been at the match between Army and Athletic, which realized £215/16/-. For eight games played at Athletic Park last season £603 was taken at the gates. To date •rates at the Hutt Recreation Ground have realized £340/0/9, as against £14.1/12/6 a in 3 vleiv of the improved financial position it was decided, upon the motion of the chairman, Mr. J. N. Millard, seconded by Mr. H. Murphy, that the union should, as from Saturday next, pay the travelling expenses of. fifth grade players, and make a grant of £25 to the Wellington Secondary Schools' Rugby Association to assist them in carrying on their competitions. The Manawatu union wrote, asking that the match . between the teams of Manawatu and Wellington, at Wellington, should be played as early as possible in the season, and that a return match should be played at Palmerston The’ Wairarapa union applied for a representative match between Wellington and Wairarapa to be played in M airarapa on a Saturday this season. It was decided to reply that Inquiries would be made as to travelling pennits. Permission was granted to the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College to play two games with teams from Horowhenua College at Petone on July 5.
