Strong Delaying Action By Germans (Received June 28, 12.40 a.m.) LONDON. June 27. “The armies in Italy have continued the attack against the enemy, who is strongly resisting on his delaying positions east and west of Lake Trasimeno, says today’s communique from General Alexander’s headquarters. “Gains have been made on a broad front.' Fifth Army troops, pressing on the coastal sector, are now some 10 miles north of Piombino. The French and American troops inland advanced several miles in a number of areas. Eighth Army troops have taken Chiusi and advanced several miles > north-westward. Fierce fighting is progressing astride Highway 71. The enemy continues to defend Castiglione del Lago. .Limited advances were also made in the vicinity of Perugia.
