HEAVY AIR RAID ON VIENNA
Oil And Aircraft Plants LONDON, June 26. Today 750 Allied bombers from the Mediterranean bombed Vienna, which is one of Europe’s most important railway centres. They struck at oil and aircraft plants and railway yards. A Rome dispatch says they fought their way through the heaviest German fighter opposition they had met for several weeks. , , , R.A.F. medium and heavy bombers from Italy last night raided an oil refinery five miles south of Budapest, causing several explosions and numerous fires. ~ ~ Dense cloud and fog over the Continent today virtually brought air operations to a standstill- Our patrols over northern France destroyed two enemy aircraft last night. . Au Air Ministry communique states that Bomber Command Mosquitoes last night attacked an industrial objective at Homburg, a few miles north-west ot Duisburg, without suffering loss.
