NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE RATES. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wellington City Council proposes at a meeting to be held at the Town Hall, Wellington, on Wednesday, July 12, 1944, to make and levy under the provisions ot the Rating Act, 1925, and all other Acts .and powers enabling it in that behalf, the following rates for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1944, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1940, namely:— GENERAL RATE. 1. A General Bate for the general purposes of the City, under the provisions of Section 77 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, of threepence and two hundred and eight-one eight-hundredths of a penny (3 2SI/800d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the City. LIBRARY RATE. 2 A Library Rate under the provisions of Section 92 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, as amended by Section 8 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1938, of one hundred and sixteen eight-hundredths of a penny (116/SOOd.) In the pound on the rateable value (on the basis-of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the City. HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATE. 3. A rate under the provisions of Section B2 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, of twopence and thirtyeight eight-hundredths of a penny <2 38/800d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the City, such rate being required to meet the contribution payable by the council to the Wellington Hospital Board. WATER RATE. 4. A Water Rate (ordinary supply) under the provisions of Section 84 of the Mlunicipal Corporations Act, 1933, as under: —(1) On all land and dwelling-houses in the City to which water is supplied, a rate of one penny and two hundred and seventyfive eight-hundredths ,of a penny (1 275/800d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value). Provided that if such rate would produce less than ten shillings in reaped of any such land or dwelling-house, the rate shall be a rate of ten shillings. (2) One-half of the water rate mentioned above on all land and dwelling-houses in the City to which water can be supplied, but is not supplied, if situated within one! hundred yards of any part of the waterworks, and on all buildings other than dwellinghouses. ALL THE ABOVE RATES WILL BE PAYABLE IN ONE INSTALMENT ON Ist DAY OF AUGUST, 41944. CONSOLIDATED SPECIAL RATE. 5. The Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies under the provisions of The Wellington City Empowering and Special Rates Consolidation Act, 1923, and the Wellington City Empowering and Special Rates Consolidation Amendment Act, 1933, a Consolidated Special Rate of twopence and three hundred and fifty-nine eight-hundredths of a penny (2 359/800d.) in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property iu the City of Wellington, for the purpose of providing the moneys necessary to meet the charges mentioned in Sub-section 2 of Section 3 of the Wellington City Empowering and Special Rates Consolidation Act, 1923, as amended by the Wellington City Empowering and Special Rates Consolidation Amendment Act, 1933, payable in one Instalment on the Ist day of August, 1944.
