WAR PENSIONS
A Second Appeal Board
The appointment of a Second War Pensions Appeal Board was announced on Saturday b.v the Minister in Charge of War Pensions, Mr. Jones. The chairman of this board will be Mr. F. F. Reid. S.M. “Mr. Reid, who has for some lime been a stipendiary magistrate employed in the Christchurch district, saw service in the field artillery in the Great War,” said tiie Minister. “He joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1915 and served with the Imperial Forces till 1916, when lie transferred with commissioned rank to the New Zealand Forces. He later became adjutant of the First Brigade. New ZealaiuFArtillery in the field, and though wounded in action, was able later to continue as a member of the forces. He returned to New Zealand in 1919.
“I feel sure,” added (he Minister, “that, (his appointment will' meet with general satisfaction and the provision of a second full-time appeal board will go a long way toward meeting the accumulation of appeal work, specially in the Auckland district, where there are a number of appeals outstanding.” It is understood that early arrangements have been made for Mr. Reid to fake up his now duties. '
