Political Censorship Condemned DETROIT. June 23. The American Society of Newspaper Editors, describing world-wide’ freedom of the Press as a means of preserving the future peace, has appointed a committee of 13, the objective of which will -be to establish the principle in future national and international agreements. The president of the society. Mr. J. S. Knight, editor of the Akron “Beacon Journal,” said : “We believe and recognize that in wartime there is urgent need' for military censorship, but we do not believe that-even in wartime there is need for political censorship.” The committee will ask the Democratic and Republican National Conventions to pass resolutions regarding freedom of the Press.
