Dominion Special Service. GREYMOUTH, June 23. Contrary to expectations, the Wallsend State mine did not resume work today following timbering work in the shaft which had been in progress since last Friday. A further defect has been discovered. and the mine .will not work before Monday. The mine has now been idle for six clays, and would normally have been worked tomorrow, a back Saturday. The resultant loss of coal is about 2200 tons.

Apart from this direct loss a large amount is involved in payments of minimum wages as provided for essential undertakings under the emergency legislation.
