NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is the intention or the Council of the above City, at a meeting to betjield ou MONDAY, July 10, 1944, to make and levy the follow, iqg'rates, on the rateable property appearing ip the Valuation Roll of the City of Lower Hiitt for the year commencing ou the Ist day of April, 1944, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1045, viz.:—

1. UNDER the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” "The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1026,” and all othey powers in that behalf enabling, a consolidated rate of One Shilling in tlie Pound 2. UNDER the provisions of Section 82 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1033"— (a) A water rata op all lands aud buildings U«ed as dwelling houses, . to which water is supplied, a rate of 14 per cent, op tl;e Annual Rateable Value, and Ob) J of 1 per cent, on the Ahaual Rateable value op all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied within one hundred yards of any portion of the waterworks and on all buildings used for any purpose other than dwelling houses, such water-rate being made and levied under the authority of Section 82 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1922,” to provide the interest payable on the £17,800 (Water Supply Portion) of the £43,000 Drainage, Water Supply and street Improvemeut Loan, 1926, the £4OOO end £4OO 10 per cent Water Extension Loan, and £2OOO Water Loan tor Western Hutt and the waterworks working expenses, and fs made due on the Ist day of April, IW4, and payable in one sum on the same day as the Gen. erai Bate. The whole of the said rates to be payable in one sum on the 17th day of July, 1944.

It Is hereby further publicly notified that a discount of 3} per cent, will be allowed ou any portion of the above rates if paid within thirty days of the due date thereof, and that the Valuation Roll and Rate Book may be inspected without fee by all ratepayers during the hours which the City Office is open tor business.
