“IL TROVATORE”
The first performance of the Royal Wellington Choral Union’s IM4 season will take place on Saturday, July. 22, when Verdi’s grand opera, “11 Trovatore,” will be presented with a chorus and orchestra of 300 performers under the direction of Mr. Stanley Oliver. A strong cast of principals has been engaged, as follows:— Leonora, Miss Rosaleen Hickmott, Wellington; Azucina, Mrs. Dorothy Kemp, Hastings; Manrieo, Mr. Thomas West, Christchurch; The Count, Mr. Alfred Jeavons, Dunedin:, and Ferrando, Mr. James Leighton, Auckland. The union has vacancies for 40 subscribing members, and an advertisement in today’s issue gives details of the season's works.
