News And Notes Pioneer Club Centre. The monthly meeting of the Pioneer Club centre was held recently in the club lounge in Wellington. Mrs. M. Lundius presided over a large attendance. Myra Sawyer gave a song recital of original work by Rosa Knight and H, Temple White, Mr. White also accompanying the items. The Misses Dix contributed elecutionary numbers. Club’s Bring and Buy Day. With a view to raising funds for the Metropolitan Patriotic Appeal, the Wellington Lyceum Club recently held a successful bring and buy day, as a result of which the club has forwarded a substantial cheque to tbe patriotic committee. Members in charge of stalls were: Produce, Mesdames Billman and Conner (2) ; arts and crafts. Miss Howarth, Mesdames Low and Sutherland; white elephant. ’Mesdames Herbert and Smith, Miss Old ; lucky dip, Mrs. Sample; copper trail. Miss Pinhay; luncheon and afternoon tea, Mesdames Livertop, Harden and Cane. Bridge Party. The third bridge afternoon was held by the women’s section of the National Party, Palmerston North, recently, conveners being Mrs. D. Everiss and Miss M. Murray. Iceland poppies and bowls of pink stock decorated the lounge. There were 14 tables, and the 56 players spent a pleasant afternoon. The prizes were given by Mrs. J. C. Young and Mrs. L. Seifert. Tbe contract prize was won by Mrs. F. Duckworth and the auction prize by Miss Garner. Afternoon tea was under the supervision of Miss M. Murray, Mrs. and Miss Betty Driver.
