OBITUARY
Mr. David Sclater
The death has occurred of Mr. David C. Sciater at his residence. Marsden ;\.venue. Karori, at the age of 56. Mr. Sclater had held the post of secretary of the Rehabilitation Board since its inception in February, 1942. Mr. Sclater had a long association with the Post and Telegraph Department, which be joined at Wellington as a message boy in 1902. He served on the staff of the Chief Post Office till he was selected to proceed overseas with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force postal unit in 1915, und remained on Army service tin September. 1919. Mr. Sclater was promoted to executive rank in 1925 and thereafter filled a variety of important positions in the postal and commercial branches of the department. In his youth lie took an active interest in all forms of sport. He was a manager of the Karori Presbyterian Church, and for a number of years was an active member of the Karori School Committee, He leaves a wife.’ two daughters, and The funeral service will be held in the Karori Presbyterian Church tomorrow a^The° Minister of Rehabilitation, Major Skinner, said that the tragic loss of Mr. Sclater would be deeply felt by all who were associated with the rehabilitation organization. His energy and ability had boon of the greatest value to the Rehabilitation Board, specially in the early stages, when a great burden of work was thrown on to his shoulders. Mr. Sclater was regarded with respect and affection by all the members of the staff for his fine pergonal qualities-
