COALMINE DISPUTE
Ships Cross Grey Bar Dominion Special Service. GREYMOUTH, June 21. A further loss of coni production in the Grey district occurred today as the result of the Strongman Mine being idle. A dispute arose from a protest by the truckers against the refusal by the management to operate the terms of a new agreement which is not yet in force in regard to the turn system of truckers going on to the hewing of coal. The executive of the State Miners Union and the management met this morning to discuss the dispute and it was subsequently ascertained that a settlement had been reached and the mine would work as usual tomorrow. The stoppage today resulted in the loss of about 550 tons of coal. With the partial opening ot; the port at Greymouth this morning, all available coal will be required for shipment. After lying in the roadstead since the weekend, three vessels entered —the Titoki to load for New Plymouth, the Rata, for Nelson and Tarakohe and the Port Waikato for Port Waikato. The Kaimai, to load for Wellington, is expected tomorrow. There is still a considerable sea on the bar. but with the onset of the spring tides it is hoped that the Kartigi. which has been tied up for eight days with coal for Wellington, and also the Poolta with coal for Wellington and the Kartl with timber for Wellington, will be able to get away tomorrow morning.
