Epping And Alienate Impressive Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, June 2U. -Spring-like conditions prevailed this morning at Hastings, when the seinilimH gallops Tor Saturday were performed. Ihe best workers were Casilda, Silvestre. roiitatau, Skyhawk. Greenfeast, Queen's Charm and Circular Note, Good schooling was credited to Epping and Alienate over burdies, and Tigrctcrre over country. Yaramananna again pleased when running the last three furlongs of a round ot half-paeework, accompanied by Silver Ball, in 39. Singing Hills ran the same distance in , ~ The FoxbriUge—Senorila lilly Casilda, with the better of the weights by a stone and a half, beat Silvestre, who was going easily, by two lengths, and recorded the best half-mile in 50). Casilda. may not start in the maiden on Saturday. , Late in the morning Kauri Queen nerlum—Foreign Queen) equalled Lasilda s time. This lilly is due to make her debut, in Saturday's novice, after which she wtd go to Trentham for the Trial Plate. Poutatau, who is racing next at J-rent-ham, was also responsible for a fair haltmile, registering 51 comfortably. Grand Coulee, a favoured candidate for Saturday’s novice race, accompanied bv Foxspear, was hardly going as well as his stablematc at the end of five furlongs in OGJ, the last half in 53}. Other half-miles were: Zingari Song, oo; Lady Premier. 54; Kinzano,' two lengths clear of Peter’s Girl, 54; Gayest Son, fast coming back to form, 52: Indian Gold and Austar, 54; Aral, 54; Hula Chief, 53J; Lenardo, showing a return to form, 51}. Skyhawk was responsible for the best five when returning 63}, the first quarter in 23}, and the last three in 40. His time was established two hours later than tlie early training, so lie had better conditions. St. Bill, when recording 64} over live, attracted attention# Other fives registered were: Pcata, from a slow start, 65}; Kinconda. on the plough, . 65; Legatee— White Bird gelding, going easily with Da Vinci, 67}; Silver Rod, two lengths clear of Royal Duce, 65}. Over six furlongs, Greenfeast shaded Queen’s Charm in 1.19; Royal Pageant ran 1.21, the first three in 40, and Alondi and Nightward went 1.20, going at an even gait throughout. >- Circular Note, with a featherweight in the caddie, returned ’1.31} for seven, the best over this distance. Botanist, who appears- to have taken a new lease of life, vyas never off the bit when holding Master Meruit safely in 1.33. Ou the plough, Catterick Bridge was clear of a poor track worker in Boulder Dam iu 1.34. The latter looks well. Kincrop and Haughty Queen working a-bont midday, ran seven in 1.32}, the first three in 37, four in 49. and then weakened to come home the -last three in 43}. The only mile gallop was between Regal Night and Fiddler's Green. They remained together for the first quarter, when Regal Night began to make a gap which measured about 100 yards by the time the winning -post was reached. Regal Night comfortably ran tlie distance in 1.47, the last seven in 1.33}. Oxyopia,- Tigreterre and Captain Star were sent over ten fences on the course proper. Oxyopia was the pacemaker throughout, but gave a mixed display. Tigreterre gave a solid exhibition throughout. Captain Star trailed the other pair for education. , Interrogation, at hunter’s pace, made no errors in a school .over five hurdles. Lindrum gave a fast, clean display over three hurdles, after which he ran live furlongs on the plough in 66. This full brother to Chat has improved in his hurdling. Kllmanagh was another that schooled impressively with the exception of the last fence. >
The best once round school seen here this winter was that of Epping and Alienate, who ran this course over six hurdles in 1.41. Epping gave a first-class display. He will be ridden in the Hawke’s Bay Hurdles by A. E. Lord, and iu the W.R.C. Winter -and C.J.C. Grand National Hurdles by A. Jenkins. Ivar did not jump with his usual brilliancy, making . two errors. His round occupied 1.46. Timothy, jumping better than- his companion, Gold Dip, took 1-47 for a round of six hurdles.
Travancore gave another good display of hurdling when running a round in 1.42} with ease. He was accompanied by Teddy Lac, who is showing gradual improvement.
