Late War News TIRED TROOPS PUSH ON
Americans 5 Miles From Cherbourg
(By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright.) ! (Received June 21, 1.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 20,
A correspondent with, the American troops says that forces have advanced to a point five miles from Cherbourg. There is no definite news that the German resistance has ceased in Montebourg, but the town’s value to the enemy as a pivotal strongpoint and eastern anchor has disappeared. The Americans now hold a line north of the Sinope River beyond Quineville. Though there is no sign of a mad rush,” it is clear that every American unit is pushing on regardless of fatigue and knowing that the enemy is more tired than they are. . ' Strong British patrols are operating south of Tilly toward the village of Hotot. Enemy armour continues to be forced to the unnatural role of defence on the eastern sector.
