MINE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS
Hold-up At Greymouth Port Dominion Special Service. GREYMOUTH, June 20. The Wallsend State mine, which ceased production on Thursday night to enable repairs to be made to the shaft, is still idle, and there is little prospect of its working before Friday at the earliest The repair work entails placing unwieldly lengths of timber and heavy rain has slowed up the job. Even if the mine resumes on Friday, the production of 1250 tons of coal will be lost, '.hp daily output being 250 tons. Greymouth has experienced 3.63 inches of rain in the last three days, and work at the port has been disorganized. The Kartigi, which has been ready to sail for Wellington with coal since last Tuesday, is still bar-bound, as is also the Poolta for Wellington. The Karu has been loading timber for Wellington since Monday week and was expected to complete today. There are three ships in the roadstead waiting to enter. The Kiwitea, which had been there since Saturday, sailed overnight for Westport to replenish bunkel's and she will load there instead of at Greymouth for Wellington. The Grey bar has been unworkable since Friday morning, when the last of the colliers left.
