HUGE DAY ATTACK
Objectives In Germany LONDON, June 18. Another four-figure force of American heavy bombers—more than 1400 Fortresses and Liberators—today continued the assault on north-west Germany. This is tlie greatest force sent over Germany. Three airfields and a number of oil refineries and storage tanks were attacked at Hamburg and elsewhere. In addition, an oil refinery was attacked in Holland. There was heavy ground fire. The Luftwaffe did not show up anywhere. All the escorting fighters came hack, but 11 of the heavy bombers are missing. A small force of Liberators this afternoon attacked military objectives iu the Pas de Calais area without suffering loss. No enemy opposition was met on this occasion either.
Bomber Command planes last night attacked military installations in northern France and laid mines in enemy waters, says an Air Ministry communique. Mosquitoes bombed objectives in Berlin and western Germany. One of our planes is missing.
