Ballin’s Breweries Dividend The directors of Ballins Braveries (N.Z.), Ltd., have declared an interim dividend of 2 per cent., payable on July 31. Transfer books close July 17-31 inclusive. Dominion Breweries Profit Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND. June 19. The accounts of Dominion Breweries, Limited, for the year ended March 31. show a net profit of £44.405, compared with £38,479 the previous year, and £20,972 In 1942. With the balance brought torward of £17,248, there is a total of £61.6.v3; the interim dividend paid In December amounted to £14,000. leaving for appropriation £47.653. The directors recommend a final dividend of 5 per cent, on all shares, making 9 per cent, for the year (last year 8 per cent.), requiring £17,500. leaving £30,153 to be curried forward. The profit is struck after making provision for land, income and social security taxes and depreciation (including obsolete brewery plant). The gross profit was £381,697, compared with £363.405 the previous year, while taxes absorb £228,249, against £ 167,236. Taupiri Coal Profit The accounts of Taupiri Coal Mines, Ltd., for the year ended March 31, show a net profit of £13,810. compared with £12,755 last year and £9532 in 1942. Preference share dividends have been paid, requiring £l2BO. As announced already, the directors recommend an ordinary dividend of 1/6 a share, taking £9750. and leaving £2789 to he carried forward. Gross profit, after providing for depreciation, was £65,6459. against £61,499 last year. Tax reserve is £64,194, compared with £35,032 last year. The report states that no settlement with the Government has been reached in regard to the amount of income payable under the Waikato Coal Mines Control Regulations, either for the previous year or for the year under review, and, as settlement might be still further delayed, it was decided again to submit the accounts on the basis of the amount claimed from the Government, without waiting for actual settlement.
