(Received June 18, 9.25 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 17. The Washington correspondent of the "Herald-Tribune'’ says diplomatic circles consider M. Menemeneoglu’s resignation is an indication that Turkey has turned against Germany as the result of recent Allied successes and that Turkey will soon assume a more active part in the Allied war effort to emsure a place at the peace tabH‘. The "New York Times” Cairo correspondent says M. Menemeneoglu was on bad personal terms with Mr. Eden and was reputedly so anti-Russian that he favoured a ' German victory. Some sources expect him to be replaced by the pro-AUied Turkish Ambassador to London, M. Rushdiaras.
