REQUEST TO WIDEN REPRESENTATION
Tlie Bureau of Importers lias telegraphed the Acting Prime Minister, Mr. Sullivan, asking that representatives of primary industries and of trade and commerce lie included in New Zealand's delegation to tlie international nionetury fund conference of the I'nited Nations. Tlie bureau, making its request, says that the conference decisions will be vital to New Zealand's future. It asks Mr. Sullivan for an early reply. The delegation announced lust week consists of the New Zealand Minister to Washington, Dlr. Nasi), the deputygovernor of the Heserve Bank, Mr. E. G. Fussell, the Secretary of tlie Treasury, Mr. B. C. Ashwin, and Professor A. G. B. Fisher, formerly professor of economics nt Otago University. The international monetary conference to lie held this year was mentioned by tlie Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland. in an address at Christchurch. Mr. Holland said they had no wish to return to n financial system that made a god of money. Yet representatives of 3 I nations had agreed in principle Io a basis of a financial system which would make gold tlie basis of world economy.
