MORE GAINS IN ITALY
Allies Beyond Orvieto GROWING THREAT TO ORBETELLO (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, June 15. The stiffening enemy resistance encountered in the last three days has been temporarily overcome and important gains have been made all along the front, states today’s communique from Allied headquarters in Italy. More of our troops are now across the Saline River and • reconnaissance units have entered Aquila. . Allied troops, after occupying Narm, have closed in on Terni. Men of .lie Eighth Army, advancing in the Orvieto area, captured Bagnoreggio alter two davs of stubborn fighting. Men of the Fifth Army by the capture of Magliano, 12 miles to the north, hate completely cut off Orbetello from the mam German forces retreating no l * ll '™™. The Americans west of Lake Bolsena have reached Pitigliauo. The French in the Lake Bolsena area also continued to advance. . . .. ... ~ The German news agency said that Allied tanks, operating from the Orbetello area, penetrated the Grosseto area 23 miles north of Orbetello. The Germans yesterday evacuated Aqua pendente, miles north-east of Lake Bolsena.
