Power at Westport was ent off for an hour recently as a result of an opossum short-circuiting the supply at the foot of Waimanguroa Hill. The opossum, following its electrocution, foil on the turns of a pole, causing a short circuit. The top of the pole was burnt off ami the wires fell across the borough council s transmission telephone system, also dislocating this service.
