In a cable message published ou Monday was an account of battles in the Arctic Sea between the latest Allied convoy to Russia and enemy submarines, in which two U-boats were sunk, while all the supply ships got through. Two New Zealanders were mentioned as having distinguished themselves in the engagements. One was incorrectly named Pilot Officer J. N. Chois. This name should have been John Nicholls, formerly a reporter on the “New Zealand Herald.” and before that n resident of Wellington. John Nicholls, whose work was described by a vice-admiral as “magnificent.’ was a nephew of the late Mr. 11. E. Nicholls (who for a long period was secretary of the Wellington Harbour Board), and a cousin of Miss. P. G. Nicholls, Grove Roadi Kclburn.
