EAST OF BONINS
Japanese Report Attacks (Received May 22, 11.55 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. A Japanese communique reports: “Enemy naval forces appeared in the waters east of the Bonin Islands, in the northern Facific, and launched air attacks on Saturday and yesterday on Minamitori Island.” The Bonin Islands, between Japan and the Ladrone Islands, are between 500 and 600 miles south-south-east of Tokio.
