OIL FUEL SUPPLIES
Evidence Of More Rigid Control A letter from the Oil Fuel Controller requesting information regarding all motorcars operating under any of the oil fuel licences was received at a special meeting of the Wellington City Council yesterday. The mayor. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, said the letter w-as of particular interest in view of discussions that had taken place recentIv concerning transport, and was a further indication of the difficulties under which transport operated. - Similar letters have been sent to all other holders of oil-fuel licences, both individuals and companies. The letter to the city council, which was dated May'l9, stated that in view of the present oil fuel supply position and the urgent demand for motor spirit for vital purposes in Europe, the Controller desired a review of all existing oil fuel licences. “In view of probable developments in the war situation it is essential to conserve oil fuel and ensure that the quantities allocated are not. in excess of. the bare minimum requirem<The details sought were the purpose for which a car was used and the running involved, whether it was used, for transport between the place of re ’ sld X n SLj} l^< ! employment, and the reasons, whether it was fitted with a gas P r " du ,^® r f it adapted for the use ot any . substitute fuel, nnd the monthly quan ity allocated to each ear owned by corpora t' u employees and used on flie corwr Hon’s business.
