Significant in today’s communique is a statement that the vigorous thrust forward all along the battlefront has, in spite of the Allies’ difficulties in terrain, prevented the enemy frojn stabilizing a line south of the Liri River. Naval co-operation yesterday included successful bombardment of targets in and round the enemy-occupied town of Terracina. Allied aircraft flew 2270 sorties. The ports of Spezia, Genoa and Leghorn and several railway bridges in northern Italy were attacked by strong’forces of escorted heavy bombers,’ and medium bombers attacked .bridges and viaducts in the area of Poggiboni and Pontassieve.
