OBITUARY

Mr. J. K. Staples

The death occurred suddenly early on Friday morning of Mr. John Kennerly Staples, a director of Levin and Co., Ltd., and manager of their wool department. He was born in Wellington 52 years ago and attended school at Petone. With the exception of three years in the service of the Farmers’ Distributing Company, the whole of his business life was spent with Levin and Co., whom he joined in 1906. Mr. Staples was particularly well known in the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts. He was formerly active in many departments of sport, notably cricket and tennis. He served for three years in the last World "War, leaving the service with the rank of sergeant-major. He had a large circle of friends in the "Wellesley Club, the Hutt Golf Club and the Wellington Racing Club. He leaves a widow, two daughters, and three sons. ,

The death occurred recently *n M el■lington of Mr. Charles Albert Campbell, general manager' of Imperial Chemical Industries (N.Z.) Ltd. Mr. Campbell was the eldest sou of Mrs. C. E. Campbell. 60 Arney Crescent, Remuera.^ Auckland. and the late Mr. Charles Edward Campbell, aud is survived by his wife and daughter. ~ „ ~, During the last war, Mr. Campbell served in the New Zealand Field Artillery for four years. He joined the Lmon Steam Ship Company of N.Z. Ltd. at an early age, serving as purser of tneir steamers in the San Francisco and Vancouver services. In 1922 he joined his father and brother in business in Auckland, under the name of Campbell Bros., agents for the Nobel (Australia) 1 ty. Ltd. an associate company of Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and hw Zealand. Limited. In 133.9. jshen Im perial Chemical Industries was formed in Aew Zealand, be te a "S ferred to Wellington, and subsequently became general manager and a directoi. wliich positions he held at the time of his death. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Wellington Club. Royal N.Z. laelit Sqimdron, Auckland, and Northern Club, Auckland, and was a keen yachtsman.
