BURLING. 29 selected pedigree A.A. cows, depasturing with “Just Eric of Tautane” (10680) 19 selected pedigree cows, depasturing with “Questor of Woodbinds” (10432) 5 rising 3-yr. pedigree heifers, depasturing with “Just Eric of Tautane" (10686) and "Questor of Woodlands” (10432) 15 rising 2-yr. pedigree heifers (empty) 36 pedigree bull and heifer calves 15 rising 2-yr. pedigree bulls 1 stud sire "Questor of Woodlands” H.B. No. 10432. The “Woodlands” herd was founded with imported animals, or close up descendants of Imported cattle. Bulls imported Included "Ermltuno” and “Eland of Bleaton,” both of which were from the famous Beauty family of Keillor, and did much to build up Hie' name of “Woodlands.” Among the females brought out were “Proud Peggy” of tile “Erica” strain, “Pride of Mulben 44th,” "Pride of Aberdeen 532nd” and “Bnnly of Mulben.” In 1926, when the entire herd was sold, the late Mr. H. IL Burling selected and purchased 15 females from the best breeding families, and since then the “Erica” and “Pride of Aberdeen” strains have bud a controlling Influence. Cows sold at I lie sale in 1926 have bred particularly well wherever they went. “Cartilage of Gwavas.” .sire o’ Hie two bulls sold at Dannevirke last October for 650 gns. and .T-’Ogns, respectively, is out of “Rose of* Woodlands.” The top-priced animal at the Ben Lomond Sale was sired by "Count of Woodlands,” who also sired ninny Show winners. This sale gives breeders a wonderful opportunity of securing high-class animals of undoubted breeding and quality.
